Singing a song in sign language
As someone who is able bodied, life has been easy for me. Not once have I taken the time to think about the challenges a person with disability faces.
As a part of our Social Entrepreneurship Saturdays, we had the privilege to meet Mrs Prarthana Kaul, the co-founder of GiftAbled, a social enterprise that works with persons with disability. Mrs Prarthana's energy and passion towards her cause is so infectious that it catches on to everyone she meets. This was truly one of the most inspiring sessions that taught me a lot.
I managed to summarise my learnings and reflections from this session below!

Having learnt the basic alphabets which are a part of the Indian Sign Language (ISL), we took to the streets to sensitise at least 5 other people. This is my classmate Mohsin and I teaching our local vendor the alphabets in sign language. We also taught him how to spell his own name :)
Disability is a spectrum and each disability comes with its own set of challenges. By sensitising ourselves and taking the time to understand the difficulties persons with disability face, we are taking a step towards creating a more inclusive society.
Thank you for reading!
